 About Me

A 24 year old student from Australia studying veterinary medicine. I was introduced to petz at the age of 10 with Catz 5, gifted to me by my beloved grandmother. My first ventures into the PC as a naive child were on Petz R Us, RKC & PKC. I returned in 2022, after a 9 year long hiatus, when my boyfriend bought me petz 4 off ebay. Today, petz remains a relaxing pastime, and in the past year has became too an avenue to learn hexing and website coding!

I love photography, painting (both traditional and digital) and dabbling in cozy games like Stardew Valley & Animal Crossing! As a volunteer for a local wildlife organisation, I help rescue and rehab native species on an on-call basis (usually possums & lorikeets). I have a cheeky blue merle Aussie Shepherd by the name of Hendrix, and I share two naughty cats named Rue & Clementine with my boyfriend.

 About Poppy Hill

I wanted a simple way of organizing my petz off airtable and to be able to share them with the community, ︎and this site from off that initial goal! My family have always had a sentimental affinity for poppies, the flower of remembrance and peace. Given that Petz was a cherished pastime for me growing up, what it stands for similarly rings true! Years after unboxing petz for the first time, this game continues to be a source of nostalgia and comfort. Rewatching 'From Up on Poppy Hill' during isolation, the name resonated with me, and I settled on it for my kennel/cattery name. "Poppy" was also the name of my mother's first dog, who I remember with much affection.

Impressionist plein-air paintings that share in Matisse's philosophy - that art should be "of serenity, devoid of troubling" - inspires the site's adopted aesthetic. I love the countryside - this little corner on the internet feeds into a dream I have of owning an orchard one day, with fields of flowers (and goats) in temperate southern Australia ♥
